How to read the replay

Live follows the election-night clock. Drag or press Play to explore historical reporting, including later hours; Play catches up to Live automatically. Actual 2026 observations stop at the latest known results. Source gaps and delayed reports remain visible. Historical reporting patterns are context, not forecasts.

Five-minute tick marks are time guides, not fabricated observations. Dots mark genuine archived vote changes at their recorded timestamps. Short steps hold a reported value until the next capture; gaps longer than 22 minutes remain disconnected. Hover a dot to see its recorded time and provider update time. “Archive gap” means the current replay clock has moved beyond the last saved observation; it is not a live-feed freshness claim.

The 2022 and 2024 lines share a scale, including when a race is expanded. Auto adjusts each side separately using recent recorded values; Full includes all earlier observations through the cursor. Tight views can clip earlier swings. Main clock and all charts use Eastern time starting at 6 PM. Poll-closing labels are separate from the common clock and pending schedules are explicitly marked.

Except Maine, historical chart margins compare Republican and Democratic candidate votes only. Maine compares Kouzounas (R) and King (I), with named axis labels. Final results include every reported candidate and write-in vote; percentages exclude blank/void ballots. Senate baselines may be the other seat, as labeled. Missing election years are left empty.

Redrawn or unaudited districts carry warnings, including provisional committee-seat mappings. Early Bird groups the saved selection by first scheduled poll close through 7:30 PM Eastern. Some areas close later; see each race’s timing notes. The Cook selection is the saved October 30 House / October 20 Senate snapshot. Sources are listed on each race card. No reaggregation or forecast is implied. Historical charts load automatically. Optional local file imports stay in this tab and are never uploaded. Source gaps and reporting delays are shown beside each race.

Historical data & sources

Historical reported totals: Associated Press (AP), preserved in third-party 2022 and 2024 snapshot archives. Election Roller Coaster selects the races and calculates the chart margins. No AP affiliation or endorsement is implied.

The chart clock follows archive capture times. Provider update times are retained separately; neither indicates when individual ballots were counted. The 2022 observations are irregular and retained 2024 observations are approximately ten minutes apart. Missing observations are not reconstructed. Final totals and reported call times have separate source links in each race's details.
